Purpose

Nestled in Glen Spey, New York, the Kadampa World Peace Temple is home to a community of Buddhist monks and practitioners who have chosen a life of meditation, service, and devotion. It's one of only six such temples in the world, known for its modern approach to ancient traditions.

Kelsang Shinchok left her career working behind the scenes for the Blue Man Group to join the community. Ordained as a monk in 2022, she speaks of purpose, love, and the paths we choose—how life sometimes reveals the yellow path when you thought you were walking the blue one.

Photographed during the Eddie Adams Workshop XXXVIII, this story offers a glimpse into the temple's stillness and the people who call it home.
